KV ONGC Srikona Shines Nationally at Youth Parliament 2024–25

Kendriya Vidyalaya, ONGC Srikona has etched its name in history as the proud National Winner of the 35th National Youth Parliament Competition 2024–25, organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India.

This remarkable achievement marks a first for the Silchar region and the entire North East, bringing immense pride to the school and its community. In preparation for their upcoming performance at the prestigious GMC Balayogi Auditorium in New Delhi on 29th August 2025, the Vidyalaya hosted a special Youth Parliament Session on 25th August.

Hon’ble Shri Kanad Purakayastha, Member of Rajya Sabha, and Shri P.I.T. Raja, Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner, KVS RO Silchar, graced the occasion, inspiring the young parliamentarians with their presence and encouragement.

A Day of Pride, Purpose and Parliamentary Excellence

The celebration at Kendriya Vidyalaya, ONGC Srikona began with heartfelt warmth as Principal Shri Sandeep Kumar Sharma welcomed and honoured the distinguished guests. He introduced Hon’ble MP Shri Kanad Purakayastha, highlighting his inspiring journey as a parliamentarian, cultural activist, sportsman and media personality. He also praised the visionary leadership of Shri P.I.T. Raja, whose guidance has elevated the Kendriya Vidyalayas of Silchar to new heights.

The event was marked by the ceremonial unveiling of the Annual Vidyalaya Report and the Foundation Day Display, adding a sense of tradition and pride to the gathering.

The highlight of the day was the Youth Parliament sitting, where students showcase their talent with clarity, confidence and discipline. Their powerful debates and poised delivery created a true parliamentary atmosphere, earning admiration from all present. Student achievers from previous competitions were also felicitated, inspiring their peers to participate with passion and purpose.

In his address, Hon’ble Shri Kanad Purakayastha expressed deep pride in the Vidyalaya’s national achievement.

“I take immense pride in the remarkable achievement of the Vidyalaya. My heartfelt congratulations to Principal Shri Sandeep Kumar Sharma for fostering a nurturing learning environment and inspiring a spirit of relentless teamwork among students and teachers. Their collective dedication has brought well-deserved national recognition to the Silchar region,” said Shri Kanad Purakayastha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha.

He also lauded the school’s commitment to the national vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and praised the students’ understanding of democratic values, calling them the future torchbearers of the nation.

“I extend my heartfelt blessings to the Vidyalaya fraternity and commend the Principal for guiding the team of teachers and students in presenting such a constructive and inspiring performance. The Region stands committed to offering all necessary support in their future endeavours. I encourage the Vidyalaya to set higher goals and pursue excellence with unwavering dedication,” Shri P.I.T. Raja, Deputy Commissioner, KVS RO Silchar remarked.

“Today’s gathering reaffirms our shared mission to nurture confident and responsible citizens for the nation,” he added.

In his concluding address, Principal Shri Sandeep Kumar Sharma expressed heartfelt thanks to the dignitaries for their inspiring presence.

The event ended with the National Anthem sung in harmony, leaving behind a strong message of commitment to nurturing responsible, confident citizens for the future.
