His artistic foundation was shaped at the prestigious Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he pursued his studies in fine arts.

“Confronted with the challenging situations and domineering beastly instincts, the human mind in its process of evolution, experiences an ever-raging conflict as to whether to yield to it or face and fight it out, to cross the barriers of time and space, with an urge to explore the unexplored to attain,’Freeness’ to merge with ‘Panchabhootams’.
I would like to explore the timelessness of human minds by continuing my work in the context of the modern world. We live in interesting times with the sudden flood of digital advances,” says the eminent artist U. Vijay Kumar.
U. Vijay Kumar: A Life Dedicated to Art and Education
Eminent artist U. Vijay Kumar honed his craft at the prestigious M.S. University of Baroda, earning his Bachelor’s (1983) and Master’s (1985) in Fine Arts under the mentorship of legendary artists K.G. Subramanian, Nasreen Mohammedi, Jeram Patel, and Krishna Chhatpar. His artistic journey is marked by innovation, deep reflection, and a commitment to excellence.
Beyond his personal artistry, U. Vijay Kumar dedicated nearly four decades (1986–2015) to shaping young minds as an educator at the Atomic Energy Central School, Hyderabad, a distinguished institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. His influence extended far beyond the classroom—through numerous workshops and exhibitions, he fostered artistic dialogue both in India and internationally, leaving an indelible mark on the creative world.
In every stroke, he seeks the unseen—beyond borders, beyond language, beyond time. His canvas is a silent whisper of his soul, exploring the void, searching for meaning. Colors weave emotions, forms echo thoughts and in between, existence unfolds.
