CBSE CLASS XII EXAM CANCELLED

The Class XII Examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education have been cancelled.

The decision was taken following a review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on 1 May 2021.

The CBSE Examination for Class X  for 2021 had already been cancelled due to the surging pandemic in the country.

“In view of the uncertain conditions due to Covid and the feedback obtained from various stakeholders, it was decided that Class XII Board Exams would not be held this year. It was also decided that CBSE will take steps to compile the results of Class XII students as per a well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner. In case some students wish to take the exams, such option would be provided to them by CBSE, as and when the situation becomes conducive,” said in a statement released after the meeting.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations also decided to cancel the ICSE Class XII Exams.

Earlier, a petition was filed before Hon. Supreme Court seeking cancellation of CBSE and ICSE Class XII Examinations and marks may be computed using the methodology adopted last year, amid the surging second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the matter came up for hearing, the Attorney General informed the Hon. Supreme Court that the central government would decide the matter immediately.
