Gaudiya Nritya in Kolkata: A Celebration of Tradition and Grace
On 2nd January at Nakeldanga, Kolkata, the timeless beauty of Gaudiya Nritya was presented by Gaudiya Nritya Bharati, in association with Vishvavanga Sahitya O Sanskriti Sammelan. This classical dance form, rooted in Bengal’s cultural heritage, unfolded as a living expression of devotion, rhythm and storytelling.
The evening featured a solo performance by Premankita Roy, recipient of the Senior National Scholarship, alongside a duet by Prodip Bera and Samarpan Sengupta, both Junior National Scholarship awardees. Adding to the vibrancy are graceful presentations by Nikita Sarkar, Shrimoyi Mistri, Priti Shi and Nibedita Roy, each bringing their own artistry to the stage.
The evening was enriched by the presence of Dr. Madhumita Das Bhattacharyya, Principal of Nrityaneed, alongside her husband Prof. Dr. Debasish Bhattacharyya, the Working President of the institution, whose gracious participation added warmth and dignity to the occasion.
The program also carried the creative imprint of Dr. Satabdi Acharya, the renowned artist who led the workshop as its main instructor, guided participants with insight and artistry that elevated the gathering into a true celebration of learning and expression.
