Soulmate at Galerie NIFA — A Curated Journey Through Indian Art’s Timeless Echoes

In the heart of New Delhi, Galerie NIFA unveils Soulmate, a transcendent exhibition curated by Renu Khera—a name synonymous with artistic discernment and cultural devotion. This showcase is not merely a collection; it is a living archive of India’s creative pulse, woven together through Khera’s decades-long journey of nurturing artistic brilliance.

From the bold strokes of modernist masters to the lyrical textures of emerging voices, Soulmate is a tribute to the enduring relationships between artist, artwork and admirer.

Legacies That Speak Across Time

The exhibition gathers over 20 artists whose works span generations and genres. Among them, legends like M.F. Husain, S.H. Raza, Ram Kumar and B. Prabha stand beside contemporary stalwarts such as G.R. Iranna, Manu Parekh and Shanti Dave.

Each canvas is a conversation—between memory and modernity, tradition and transformation.

“Among the luminaries featured are M.F. Husain, S.H. Raza, Ram Kumar, B. Prabha, A. Ramachandran, Krishen Khanna, G.R. Iranna, Manu Parekh and Shanti Dave. The exhibition also includes a special focus on Balu Jivya Mashe, son of the late Padma Shri awardee Jivya Soma Mashe, who brought Warli art to international recognition. Balu’s works continue this vibrant legacy, weaving rural life, nature and spirituality into compelling visual narratives,” says the organizers through a press release.

A poignant highlight is the inclusion of Balu Jivya Mashe, whose Warli narratives continue the legacy of his father, Padma Shri Jivya Soma Mashe. Through Balu’s intricate depictions of rural life and spiritual rhythm, the exhibition pulses with ancestral wisdom and contemporary relevance.

Threads of Legacy —  Soulmate’s Living Spirit

G.R. Iranna: Stillness in Bloom – Iranna’s canvas whispers in quiet tones—where a blossoming tree leans into fragility, and a sacred Nandi anchors the silence. His meditative minimalism invites viewers into a space where resilience blooms from stillness, and transcendence rises from the roots of materiality.

Biplab Biswas: Memory in Motion – Biplab Biswas paints with emotion layered deep—his radiant palette reimagines feminine divinity, threading myth and modernity into lyrical forms. Through textured strokes and vibrant hues, he offers a mirror to identity, memory and the raw pulse of human experience.

Sanghapal Mhaske: Rhythm of the Everyday – Mhaske’s brushwork dances through urban life—marketplaces shimmer with luminous tones, abstraction meets symbolism, and cultural memory finds new voice. His canvases are quiet poems of community, pulsing with the rhythm of shared existence.

Balu Jivya Mashe: Geometry of the Sacred In Balu Jivya Mashe’s hands, Warli art breathes anew. His intricate linework transforms ancestral ritual into contemporary visual poetry—where circles, triangles, and dots echo the rhythm of nature, community and cosmic order. Each composition is a quiet hymn to harmony, carrying forward the legacy of his father, Jivya Soma Mashe, with reverence and innovation.

Soulmate: A Tapestry of Time and Truth From G.R. Iranna’s meditative minimalism to Biplab Biswas’s lyrical activism and Mhaske’s urban poetics, Soulmate is a constellation of voices.

Paintings, sculptures and mixed media works converge in dialogue—between tradition and modernity, solitude and society.

Curated by Renu Khera, the exhibition becomes a living companion, reflecting the emotional and spiritual contours of Indian art across generations.
