15TH EDITION OF NAVADISHA: EXPLORING THE DANCING PATH FESTIVAL OF DANCE

 Upasana Centre for Dance, Kolkata supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Kolkata presents the 15th edition of ‘Navadisha: Exploring the Dancing Path Festival of Dance’,  on 24 July 2024  and 25 July 2024 at Gyan Manch, 11 Pretoria Street, Kolkata from 6.00 PM onwards.

The two-day Choreography Festival, under the guidance of renowned Kathak exponent Shri Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan showcases a diverse array of choreographic works that delve deep into traditional frameworks, and creatively updating for the contemporary audiences.

The festival- NAVADISHA features the performances by renowned artists including Subikash Mukherjee, Nilopa Maitra, Priyanka Talukdar & Sriparna Sarkar, Jalsachandra & Shankar Narayan Swamy, Trina Roy, Milan Adhikary & Mousam Yasmin, Arpita Venkatesh, Moumita Chatterjee & Group, Kankana Singh, Alokparna Guha & Group, Malvika Menon, Rajib Bhattacharya & Group, and many more.

ASHIMBANDHU BHATTACHARJEE

Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee, an internationally acclaimed artist of India, is the driving force behind Navadisha. He has performed at many prestigious festivals in India and abroad, received accolades for choreographic works like ‘Om Shakti’, ‘Vasudeva’ and ‘Ghungroo’.

Eminent artist Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee was trained in both Jaipur and Lucknow gharanas of Kathak under the tutelage of masters Pandit Ramgopal Mishra, Pandit Vijay Shankar and the legendary Guru Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. He is a ‘Top Graded’ artist of Doordarshan and an outstanding artist of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee founded Upasana Centre for Dance, Kolkata for preserving the classical dance forms while encouraging innovative expressions and nurtures guru-shishya tradition, fostering the next generation of Kathak dancers.
